Online Therapy for Anxiety

Online Therapy for Anxiety

Anxiety is a very natural emotion that everyone will encounter at some point in their lives. It serves as a natural response to stress, typically characterized by feelings of unease, fear, or worry.

However, when these feelings become persistent and excessive, they can interfere with daily life, leading to further symptoms such as fatigue, sweating, increased heart rate, difficulty concentrating, and intrusive thoughts.

This condition is referred to as an anxiety disorder, which can significantly disrupt various aspects of life, including work, school, and relationships.

This is where therapy for anxiety, particularly online therapy, can be incredibly beneficial.

How can therapy and counselling help with anxiety?

Common triggers for anxiety disorders include:

- Stress related to major life changes (such as relationship issues and workplace pressures)

- Being a naturally highly sensitive person

- Unprocessed trauma

- Grief

- Learned behaviours

- Exposure to toxic environments or relationships

- Social media use

- Brain chemical imbalances that can affect mood

Symptoms of anxiety may include:

- Constant feelings of unease or stress

- Irritability

- Restlessness

- Overthinking

- Insomnia

- Unexplained shaking or sweating

- Muscle tension and headaches

- Avoidance of people, places, and situations

- Social withdrawal

- Compulsive and repetitive behaviours

What is psychodynamic therapy and how can it help manage anxiety?

Psychodynamic therapy involves exploring the unconscious mind to uncover past traumas and conflicts that may remain unresolved, contributing to your anxiety.

The goal is to examine early experiences and relationship patterns to gain greater insight into how your past influences your present emotions and behaviours, shaping your thoughts, feelings, and relationships.

Anxiety often stems from unconscious processes that we may not be aware of, including repressed memories and unresolved conflicts. Psychodynamic therapy allows you to illuminate these processes, helping you understand how they contribute to your anxiety disorder.

This approach places particular emphasis on early relational patterns, emotional development, and their recurrence in current relationships and even within the therapeutic environment itself.

I specialize in this therapeutic approach, assisting clients from diverse backgrounds in navigating the emotional and psychological challenges that arise over time.

I work with individuals aged eight to eighty; there’s never a wrong time to consider seeing a counsellor.

When you come to a session with me, you can expect a relational, reflective, and individualized experience. Here, you can freely explore your experiences in depth, at your own pace, with a focus on insight, emotional understanding, and self-compassion.

If you’d like to learn more about how I can help you regain control of your life, please get in touch today to schedule a counselling session, either in person or online.
